Officer Gill was named the '2009 FWC Officer of the Year.

 

During '2008 Gill issued 168 citations and warnings for for illegal hunting, illegal fishing, littering, drug possession, active felony warrants, marine resource and boating safety violations in rural Union County.  He assisted the Union County Sheriff's Office with a manhunt for a murder suspect.  Officer Gill and a Corrections K-9 officer captured the suspect.  Gill rescued four children who were tube-floating on the Santa Fe River.  The children had become separated from their parents.  He removed a female passenger from a burning vehicle, saving her life.  Gill traveled as a member of FWC's Special Operations Group "SOG" to Louisiana to assist with search and rescue efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Gustov.
